Cilento Spots ?

Hello all,

I'm looking for some information regarding some kite-spots in the area of Cliento.

I will be there the next 2 Weeks.

Can any one recommend something ? are there any restrictions or rules which I need to know ?

Tell me where and when are you going to stay. The area is very extended and also the period of the year is important.

Il cilento è un posto stupendo, a mio parere molto più bello della tanto blasonata costiera amalfitana in quanto a natura. Peccato non sia per nulla valorizzato dalle istituzioni locali. Io ci vado spesso ma al di la di Marina di Eboli non sono mai riuscito ad uscire in altri spot.

È un posto dove èpossibile uscire con qualunque vento spostandosi di una cinquantina di km. Gli spot più frequentati sono Case del conte (sotto Agropoli), Paestum, Acciaroli, Marina di eboli (dove solitamente vado in estate http://www.gliamicidelmare.it ma qui non è propriamente Cilento, il cilento comincia da Paestum che è 20 km piu a sud).

Per chi volesse cimentarsi in una visita, Daniele del B38 è disponibilissimo a darvi dritte, i contatti li potete trovare nel sito sopra citato.

I will be there next week, Cliento or the region south of Solerno, Castelllabate. The village where I will be is called Santa Maria.

I see some additional messages , but they are in italian and I dont understand it :-( .

Near Santa Maria you can find Case del Conte. It's one of the best spots in Cilento but it depends on the wind direction.

from Castellabate you will be able to drive north and south an have a look on the coast (sandy beaches and rocky areas) .

In this season beaches are not so crowded and it shouldn't be hard to kite (not so easy in the week ends) .

As Aldo wrote the official kite spots are Case del conte (near Agropoli), Paestum, Acciaroli, Marina di eboli

watch for your gear and car (as usual)

Santa Maria di Castellabate is not properly a kite spot. However in mid september the beaches are not crowded and you will be able to kite almost everywhere there is wind.
to find wind you have to be a bit lucky: thermal winds are not assured in this period; if is very sunny (but not humid) and wind forecast have a moderate W or NW base thermal winds could work and the right places are paestum (Laura county) or Casa lvelino (near the river's mouth). Sometimes paestum works with SW tendency (go to licinella county near river Solofrone)

Otherwise you have to hope for frontal winds.

Hi I will be in Csalvelino on saturay and sunday. A 19 speed sure will help. My speed is jammed and I don't know if it will be ready for this week end

Spot list for frontal winds

Paestum: long sandy beach with no obstacles. works with NW W SW S SE.
Agropoli (baia di Trentova): small beach with rocks. N (never tried...I think it's gusty). good to have a bath
Santa Maria di Castellabate: Unknown...let me know if you find some wind
Punta Licosa: best wave spot ever for N winds...but WINDSURF ONLY due to narrow and rocky access with no beach and safety at all. One of the best places in Italy to have a bath
Case del Conte: best wave spot ever with SE (and S winds in general). medium beach and some rocks
Acciaroli: N (gusty and waves) or NW (wave) long sandy beach with some rocks to the sides
Pioppi. WS only or boat launch. thermal W. rocks everywhere but good baths
Csal velino thermal W. medium beach with submerged wave brakers. look out for yellow buoys
Ascea NW (wave) and maybe SW S SE (beach as above)

Hope you enjoy your stay.
On saturady there was a good W wind on the whole coast. I was in water completely alone.
